“This city that belongs to us all” gave Dorothée Munyaneza the idea of embarking on a new adventure, immersing herself in local realities and exploring relationships with the people of Marseille. L'Autre – The Other – is a singularly appropriate title for this artist, who presented Samedi détente at the Festival in 2017 and has since felt the need to create a work in Marseille and interact with the city’s residents. She asks: “What is their heritage, what is their legacy, what can we set down in the present moment: this shared present, here and now, in the city of Marseille?”.

The Rwandan-born choreographer Dorothée Munyaneza, who is based in Marseille, has undertaken a project with residents of the La Castellane housing estate. Meetings, workshops, intimate stories and combined voices create sensitive interactions, bringing words to the surface and making sparks fly.
